What couldn't be done in last 10 years, NDA govt did in one year: Smriti Irani in Amethi

On the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Union Minister Smriti Irani visited Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's constituency, Amethi, on Tuesday and said that what could not be done in the last 10 years was achieved by the Narendra Modi government in the past one year.

New Delhi: On the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Union Minister Smriti Irani visited Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's constituency, Amethi, on Tuesday and said that what could not be done in the last 10 years was achieved by the Narendra Modi government in the past one year.

“We have given the people of Amethi a railway line between Amethi-Unchachar on May 25. What could not be done in the last 10 years was done by the NDA government in the past one year,” she said while addressing a rally in Salon.

The Union Minister said that Congress has failed the people of Amethi.

She added that the farmers demand for a soil test laboratory will also be fulfilled soon.

Talking about Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojna, Smriti said, “We will get 25,000 people insured under the scheme and I will personally pay their first instalment.”

Later in Rae Bareli, she launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and said that he criticises PM Modi but cannot deliver on promises in his constituency.

“Rahul Gandhi should know when one wants to do something, it does not take much,” she added.

Meanwhile, ahead of her visit, Smriti told reporters that during her last tour to Amethi, farmers had a long pending demand of a railway rack of fertilizers which was set up on May 25.

She tweeted, “For 10 years farmers of Amethi demanded a railway rack of fertiliser. Made a promise on d 12th that d same will be arranged at Gauriganj.”

“Happy to say yesterday the 1st rack arrived at Gauriganj. 10 years of neglect v/s delivery in 10 days.”

The Human Resource Development Minister is in Amethi to hold a string of public meetings today and highlight the work done by the NDA government during its one year in office.

This is Smriti's second visit to Amethi in less than a month, where she held 'Kisan Panchayat' on May 12 and also interacted with farmers.
