Beijing had more days with good air quality in April, according to a report from the country's Ministry of Environmental protection on May 25, 2015.

In a monthly report, the ministry said 56.7% days were classified as having "good air quality" in Beijing, adding only 1 day hit level 5, the worst rating in government guidelines.

Furthermore, the city's average PM 2.5 concentration, a key indicator of inhalable particles in the air, dropped significantly by 19% in the first four months, compared with the same period last year.

According to the report, seven of the 10 Chinese cities with the worst air quality last month were located in Hebei Province, an industrial province that neighbors Beijing.

And the 10 Chinese cities with the best air quality in April were Haikou, Lhasa, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Shenzhen, Zhoushan and Kunming.
