The spotlight will be on Bengaluru this September as the city plays host to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) mart. Nearly 1,000 delegates from over 60 countries are likely to attend.

As what PATA terms is “one of India’s fastest growing cities, with its booming economy and racy lifestyle” gets ready to showcase what it has to offer to the world, a preparatory meeting was held on Monday for the mega-event. Officials from the State’s tourism, police and information departments, along with those from the hotel industry among others, held talks with representatives of PATA. Apart from the line-up of conferences and events, with tourism and trade being the main focus, what the delegates will be doing during their stay from September 6 to September 8 was also part of the discussion, sources said. With Bengaluru being only the third city in India to host the event, which is in its 38{+t}{+h}edition, The State government has announced a budgetary provision of Rs. 5 crore for the event.

Karnataka is also expected to take advantage of being the host State and have its own pavilion at the event, scheduled to be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
