Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty received a threat call allegedly from underworld don Ravi Poojary on Monday.

Mr. Shetty said that he was on his way to attend a wedding when he received a call from a person who identified himself as Ravi Poojary and said he was calling from Australia.

The caller demanded money from Mr. Shetty and said he would have a lot of money since he was an MLA. The legislator said it was not possible to pay, but the caller insisted the money be kept ready and that his henchmen would collect it. Mr. Shetty alleged that the caller threatened to “finish him off” if the demand was not met.

The MLA informed Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai about the incident. When contacted, Mr. Annamalai said, “I neither confirm nor deny the incident.”
