Fatehabad, May 25
The police claimed to have busted an interstate gang of animal thieves with the arrest of three persons who used to steal buffalos from farmers and sold them at far off places in Uttar Pradesh.
Fatehabad SP Sangeeta Kalia said with the arrest of these three persons, all 22 cases of buffalo theft in the past year have been solved.
The three arrested persons include — Mange Ram alias Raju Bhat, a resident of Bikaner in Rajasthan; Sadhu Ram, a resident of Bhuna in this district and Jagdish Bhat, a resident of Jodhpur.
Kalia said a team arrested three members of the gang on Samian Road in Tohana when they were planning another theft in a nearby village. The SP said the police seized an illicit pistol, an iron rod, a few ropes and Rs 10,000 from the trio’s possesion.
Kalia said the trio used to perform a recce of healthy and costly buffalos during the day. At night, they used to steal the cattle and took them to Shamli in Uttar Pradesh through another gang, who sold animals worth Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh for a paltry sum of Rs 25,000 in UP. — TNS
