Ambala, May 25

Residents of Babyal village adjoining Ambala Cantonment protested the digging of the cremation ground for installing a tubewell there. They claimed the ground was used for burying children.

The villagers gathered there this morning and stopped the installation of a tubewell there. A meeting of the panchayat held this evening also opposed digging of the cremation ground.

A tubewell was sanctioned for Dilipgarh village . Since no land was available in Dilipgarh, residents suggested installing the tubewell in a corner of the cremation ground of Babyal . The police said no one would disturb the peace in this area. — TNS
