As hippy hair and centre partings rule the runways, our groovy chick gives us the lowdown on how to wear the hairstyle of the season

Triona's trends

I was a 1970's baby, so I'm getting complete deja vu from the hippy-dippy 1970's vibe that's dominating fashion right now. Although I prefer the edgier designs, such as Bella Freud's cult sweater from seagreen.ie, which I'm wearing in my photo, above, this week.

Hair-wise, I'm hankering after a middle parting, having pretty much done a side parting for years now. At the moment, a middle parting just feels very right, very Ali MacGraw in Love Story, which my mum and my aunties, Grainne, Marie and Kate, all loved when I was a young wan.

For my photo today, I was lucky enough to have Nice 'n Easy ambassador, Joanne Kelly, do my 'do. If you'd like to give the centre parting a go, here's how.

Start by cleansing and conditioning your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner. Try Head & Shoulders Colour Care - both the shampoo, left, and the conditioner are €3.89. A healthy scalp is the foundation for beautiful-looking hair, and this duo is perfect for someone like me, who has to constantly colour my hair.

After rinsing, towel dry your hair and, using a vented brush, apply a volumising mousse through it from root to tip. A golf-ball size amount of Silvikrin Dual Benefit Volume & Hold Mousse, €4.09, is enough for shoulder-length hair like mine, to create long-lasting body that will blow-dry beautifully.

Blast-dry your hair until it's damp and then, starting at the nape, use a large, round bristle-brush to blow-dry your hair in two-inch sections, turning the ends under.

If you've time at the end, use two velcro rollers to roll the hair away from the face at the front, on both sides. This will give more volume, lift and a little kick to your layers.

Finish off with Silvikrin Flexible Hold Hairspray, €4.79, to hold your style but with bounce and movement - what 70's styles were all about.

Face-Dance Max Factor

We're big into face dancing in my house at the moment. It's basically making moves to music using your face. I'm all about the eyebrow wiggles; Maxi does hilarious kissy-kissy faces; Mini is blinktastic, but poor Will really hasn't much control over his facial features. At all.

Never mind, he's a great kisser - once I'd shown him how I liked to be kissed - so we'll let him off on the face-dancing front.

Max Factor Colour Intensifying Balm, €11.49, however, has been doing a dance on my lips for the last few weeks. I love it.

It's like your favourite lip balm and favourite lipstick coupled up and had a little baby! So you get the hydrating properties of a balm and the colour pigment of a lipstick.

Best of all, it's a buildable balm, so you can layer it for a hint, a tint or a full pop of colour.

It available in nine shades - my fave shade is Refined Rose for that 'my lips, only better' look that I can put on without a mirror. While face dancing!

And 1, 2, 3, 4 . . .

Disco feet treat

Channel your inner Blondie and put your best disco foot forward in this season's most-wanted style, the stompy 70s-style platform.

Make a date with Mink Hand and Foot Spa in Ballsbridge, D4, to help you nail your desired look, with perfectly polished tootsies peeking out.

The Bamboo Purifying Pedicure, €85, contains a powerful blend of ingredients to sort out dry skin. A sugar-cane and bamboo exfoliation prepares the skin for an invigorating masque packed with acai. Soothing hot towels are removed before an Argan Oil & Urea heel treatment is applied.

Use the Mink App, now available for iPhone or Android, to book in instantly, and for some nailspo, check out the 'My Mink' tab on mink.ie.

Triona's most wanted

Seren, my baby girl, aka Mini, is five months old now, so I'm starting to decrease the breastfeeding a bit. It's so good for her but hard for me, as I need to feed her every three hours and pumping drives me nuts.

So I'm starting to get a little bit of time for myself and I swear I haven't just been using it to stare at myself in the mirror. However, I have noticed pesky lines I never had before. In the past, I've had great results from No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum,  €33, I decided to 'go back on it'.

I'm not the only one who's seen great results from this magic potion - it's recently been clinically proven to deliver anti-ageing results that get even better over time.

An industry first, the ground -breaking results came from a 12-month clinical trial, and have been scrutinised by industry advertising advisers at the highest level.

Encouraged by the exceptional results after six months' product use, skincare scientists at Boots decided to continue the trial to 12 months, driven by the fact they wanted to see how long the results would continue to get better.

They knew that if they could prove these cumulative results, it would be a genuine beauty first.

Now, No7 proudly proclaims: "Our first serum clinically proven to deliver anti-ageing results that get even better over time."

Cult product

If you're a chatty Cathy, like me, or like a bit of face dancing, lipstick can often end up on your nose, chin or cheeks.

The super-hydrating Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil, €19, is a must for mess. Not only does this invisible shield keep your lipstick from smearing and feathering, it helps blur the fine lines around your lips and those little crows feet, that you, em, don't have!

TOP TIP: It also makes a great make-up eraser for tidying up other messy mistakes, such as your mascara.
