MIRZAPUR: In a respite to Uttar Pradesh Child Development and Nutrition Minister Kailash Chaurasia, a district court today acquitted him of misbehaving and threatening a postman ten years ago.

On February 28, Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Bhardwaj had sentenced the minister to three years in jail in connection with the case registered against him by postman Krishna Dev Tripathi in 1995.

Chaurasiya had filed an appeal in the district court against the February 28 verdict, prosecution lawyer said.

Tripathi had alleged in an FIR filed under various sections of the IPC that when he had gone to deliver a registered letter at Chaurasiya's home on October 19, 1995, he had misbehaved with him and snatched a bundle of official documents.

The district court asked Chaurasiya to file two bonds of Rs 20,000 each.
