Major bovine smuggling bids foiled; 65 milch animals rescued, 7 nabbed

JAMMU, May 24: Tightening the noose around bovine smugglers, Jhajjar Kotli, Jagti and Nagrota police foiled major bovine smuggling bids in their respective areas and rescued 65 milch animals by nabbing seven smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information about bovines smuggling to Kashmir valley, SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma alerted the police personnel of Jagti, Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli and told them to raise special check points in their respective areas.
Police team from Jhajjar Kotli raised a special naka at Nandni and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK19-1325 and JK03D-0362 at Nandni.
A total of 29 bovines were rescued from the vehicles and four persons were nabbed on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Ghulam Hussain of Banihal, Mohammad Ishaq, son of Mohammad Hanief and Mohammad Qayoom, son of Jamal Din, both residents of Qazigund and Abdul Rashid, son of Abdul Ahad of Anantnag.
A case under FIR number 54/15 has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police team from Jagti police post and Nagrota police station intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JKO8A-6415 and two trucks bearing registration numbers JKO2AD-3325 and JKO2AF-4379 during special nakas at Jagti-Jarria and Bantalab respectively.
During checking, police recovered 36 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested three persons, who have been identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Bashir of Kot Bhalwal, Khalid Hussain, son of Bashir Ahmed of Bye-Pass Nagrota and Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Shafi of district Reasi.
Cases under FIR number 100/15, 101/15 and 102/15 have been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station SI Hilal Azhar, Incharge Jagti police post ASI Asha Nand and SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Vinod Kundal on the directions of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and under the direct supervision of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
