16 Amma Canteens in Vellore, Tiruvannamalai

As many as 16 Amma Canteens have been inaugurated in different parts of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts on Sunday by Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa through video conferencing.

Tiruvannamalai district alone gets five canteens and out of them two are being set up in Tiruvannamalai town. Canteen has been inaugurated in Cheyyar, Arani and Vandavasi municipalities.

Crowd pullers

Among them two canteens would be crowdpullers. The one near the Tiruvannamalai Central Bus Stand, put up at a cost of Rs. 35 lakh and another one constructed at a cost of Rs.40 lakhs in Chengam road will benefit a large number of commuters.

After the canteens were declared open by Ms. Jayalalithaa, district collector A.Gnanasekaran had distributed sweets in the canteen situated near bus stand.

In Vellore district there are 11 Amma Canteens in various municipalities viz. Tiruppathur, Jolarpettai, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Gudiyatham, Peranampattu, Ranipet, Walaja, Arakkonam, Mel Visharam and Arcot. The new canteens would begin functioning from Monday.
