On Modi's first year in power, Smriti Irani to visit Rahul Gandhi's Amethi again

Union Minister Smriti Irani , who lost to Rahul Gandhi in Amethi in the last Lok Sabha elections, will be in Amethi on May 26, the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi government. Irani is expected to address public meetings in the Congress bastion on her second visit within a fortnight.

Irani's visit also close on the heels of a three-day tour by the Congress vice-president, during which he repeatedly raked up the issue of cancellation of a proposed food park in Amethi and targeted the Modi governnment for it.

"Smriti Irani will first go to Salon area in Rae Bareli district where she would deposit the first premium under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Insurance scheme said to benefit nearly 25,000 families," state BJP president Furgesh Tiwari said on Sunday. He said the Union HRD Minister would address public meetings at four places.

May 26 marks the first anniversary of the Modi government and Irani is expected to highlight the work done by the NDA government in its year in office.
