Heavy crowds in Tirumala

May 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:24 am IST - Tirumala:

The temple town of Lord Venkateswara on Saturday wobbled under the influence of heavy crowds.

All the arrangements made by the temple administration were thrown out of gear and the authorities were seen running from pillar to post in meeting the requirements of the visiting devout.

The darshan lines spilled out to a couple of kilometres outside the Vaikuntam complex and the waiting stretched beyond 15 hours for the ordinary pilgrims according to the information available by evening. Tirumala-based TTD’s JEO K.S. Srinivasa Rajuattributed the sudden surge in crowd to the declaration of SSC and EAMCET results. Talking to media, Mr Raju said the administrationhas decided to organise uninterrupted darshan lines till Ekantha seva in the night but for a brief interval to facilitate the evening ‘naivedhyam’. Efforts are on to enable at least 90,000 pilgrims have darshan before the Ekantha seva. .
