A 26-year-old homemaker was found dead in her house at New Washermanpet on Saturday morning. An RDO enquiry has been ordered into the demise following allegations that her inebriated husband had assaulted her brutally resulting in her death.

New Washermanpet police identified the victim as Divya, mother of a two-year-old boy, who was found dead by neighbours in the early hours of Saturday at her home in Varadhappa Mastri Street, New Washermanpet. They rushed an unconscious Divya to a hospital nearby but she reportedly died on the way.

The residents nabbed Divya’s husband Vijay (30), a goldsmith, and handed him over the police. New Washermanpet police have registered a case of suspicious death and are questioning him. Divya’s body was sent for post-mortem examination to the Government Stanley hospital.

An RDO enquiry is under way into the death, sources added.
