NASHIK: With the police yet to find any clue in connection with the abduction case of four-year-old girl Kanchan Sharma, her father has now decided to put his daughter’s photo in and around the Satpur area with the hope that someone might spot her and report the matter to the police or him.
Kanchan was abducted from near her house in the Satpur area on May 15.
Around 8 am, the girl was playing with her elder sister and brother in front of their house when a person alighted from a car. He asked the children to call their father. When the elder sister went to call her parents, the man forced Kanchan into the car and fled.
Mahindra Sharma, Kanchan’s father, said “Ever since my daughter was abducted, survival has become tough. I am not getting any chance to open my shop as the police have been calling me on a daily basis for enquiry. Nonetheless, my friends and family members have decided to put up posters of my daughter at as many places as possible with the hope that someone might spot her.”
Sharma said his friends and family members have decided to provide him money needed to put up the posters.
Meanwhile, the police said they were working on crack the case at the earliest. Assistant commissioner of police Atul Zende said besides the Satpur police, three units of the crime branch were also working to trace the girl and the criminals involved in the crime.
“We are also trying to see the video footage from as many places as possible to check if we can get any clue,” he added.
Sharma said, “In a matter of seconds, I rushed towards the direction in which my daughter was taken in the van. After I failed to find my daughter or the vehicle, I rushed to the Satpur police station. It could have not been more than five minutes that I reached the police station to report about my daughter’s abduction. However, nothing helped.”
Sharma is a carpenter and has a shop in the Satpur area. Police said they were also checking if the helpers working in Sharma’s shop earlier have any connection with the crime.
