GURGAON: The MCG carried out a drive on Saturday to evict street vendors from Rajiv Chowk, main bus stand, Vypar Sadan on Mehrauli Road.
Authorities said the vendors were hindering smooth flow of traffic in these already congested areas. “Earlier too we have undertaken such drives but every time we evict them, they come back. This time, however, we have warned them that we will lodge a police complaint against them if found obstructing traffic again.
These vendors occupy not just the main roads but also footpaths, due to which pedestrians are forced to walk on the road,” said an enforcement department official.
The authorities have also asked residents to call and complain if they find vendors obstructing right of way. “We want residents to call us on our toll free number (18001801817) and report of any instance that they come across of these vendors causing obstruction. We will immediately send our team to remove them. We will also launch similar drives in other congested areas like Sadar Bazar and the old city to remove similar encorachments,” he said.
