Another IPL betting racket busted, two arrested

The Special Enquiry branch of Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted two simultaneous raids in Vyalikaval and Subramanya Nagar police station limits and arrested two bookies.

According to the police, Satish from Vyalikaval, who has 15 punters playing with him, has been coordinating with other bookies from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. A television set, one small betting chit-book and two mobile phones have been seized from him.

Dinesh Jain from Subramanya Nagar has links with three other bookies from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan with 23 punters playing with him, Police said. Five mobile phones, one television set and Rs. 1,50,000 cash was seized.

The CCB officials have increased the crack-down on these bookies for the past few days. There have been many raids and arrests in the past weeks since the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches started.
