UMS' way of files disposal via boiler

Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah's (UMS) Faculty of Sciences and Natural Resources (FSSA), organised for the first time the disposal of files and records at the Innovatary Furniture Sdn Bhd, Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) recently.The disposal method of using boilers were seen as more efficient and economical because it is by a contained nature and may even reduce air pollution. Also the resulting combustion can produce heat.According to FSSA dean, Professor Dr Baba Musta, such activities are important to ensure that the files and records are maintained in accordance with the procedures and rules adopted by the university besides the responsibility to monitor, plan and implement the disposal programme of records and files at the faculty periodically.

Deputy FSSA Registrar, Hasmi Hashim said activity was divided into two phases, the first conducted in September and October 2014 which had received approval from the National Archives of Malaysia, Sabah Branch in April 2015."The second phase will be carried out before the fasting month of this year," he added.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Overall, a total of 351 units of public faculty files that have reached the retention period set out in the Records Disposal Schedule of the National Archives had been disposed of.The disposal activities were also witnessed by the Innovatary Furniture Sdn Bhd General Manager, Justin Yap and FSSA Senior Lecturer, Janshah Mokhtar.
