BlackBerry managed to swing back into profits late last year following its restructuring. This has opened the possibilities of other tech giants potentially investing into the company, since BlackBerry is now concentrating its business on software products instead of hardware devices. According to a report on DigiTimes, this gives Microsoft a greater advantage to takeover BlackBerry.
On the other hand, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Huawei are also known to be interested in the deal since the takeover could help them gain better presence into the US and European market. However, the issue with Chinese companies being successful in the deal is that there are stringent rules and it would be difficult for Chinese-based vendors to pass the scrutiny of regulatory agencies in the US and Europe on concerns of national security, commented the sources at DigiTimes.
