Double injury blow for Bohs

Captain Pender suffer an injury to his lower right leg after just 12 minutes. Murphy replaced him at right-back, but he too was then off on a stretcher with what appeared an ankle injury early in the second half.

In a terribly poor game, we had to wait until the 88th minute for the only real scoring chance. Bohs substitute Adam Evans whipped a super ball from the left to the far post, but Jason Byrne's powerful header was straight at Bray 'keeper Stephen McGuinness.

Full of confidence after last week's win over St Pat's, Bray came to play and Alan McNally headed a corner over, but after Bohs' injury setbacks, the game petered out, save for that late chance for former Bray striker Byrne.

Frustrated Sligo pay the penalty

Sligo Rovers will feel it was a missed opportunity to claim a win at Derry City.

In a disappointing first half , the visitors had the better chance, with Dinny Corcoran denied by the post on 33 minutes.

The deadlock was broke on 50 minutes when Sander Puri netted his first league goal for Rovers.

Derry finally ended a run of 495 minutes when Seanan Clucas' clever lob moments later gave Rovers 'keeper Richard Brush no chance.

The home side were reduced to ten men on 67 minutes when Mark Timlin received a straight red card for a challenge on Kevin Devaney.

Rovers were awarded a penalty on 81 minutes when Corcoran went over when challenged by Dean Jarvis inside the box.

However, Alan Keane's resulting effort from 12 yards rattled the bar and Derry survived.

Duffy lights Drogheda fuse

Goals in each half from Lee Duffy and Sean Thornton helped Drogheda United to a second straight home league victory at United Park.

Looking for just their second win in 13 league outings, boss Johnny McDonnell decided to leave strikers Daryl Kavanagh and Tiernan Mulvenna on the bench and instead handed a debut to Adam Whelan.

After a demoralising defeat to Sligo at the Showgrounds last week, Drogheda started brightly against a Galway team who had won four of their last five in league and cup. Despite top scorer Enda Curran and Padraic Cunningham both forcing Michael Schlingermann into saves, Drogheda's 33rd-minute lead was deserved. Duffy latched onto a through ball and he rounded Conor Winn and tapped in.

However, with Galway struggling to create anything of note, they did stretch their lead in the second half. Duffy's curling shot was superbly saved by Winn but the ball wasn't cleared and Thornton was there to coolly finish.
