VS opposes KAT post for Bhushan

May 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has come out against the government’s reported move to appoint former Chief Secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan as official member of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT).

In a statement here on Friday, Mr. Achuthanandan asked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to give up his ‘clandestine move’ to appoint Mr. Bhushan, who faced several allegations of corruption and misuse of power, to the post. The government was trying to post Mr. Bhushan denying several others the opportunity to apply for the post. It could only be presumed that the post was being offered to Mr. Bhushan in return for the help that the former Chief Secretary had rendered to Mr. Chandy while in service, he said. Mr. Achuthanandan urged Mr. Chandy to ensure that the appointment was transparent.
