Students of Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI), Tuticorin have secured top ranks in ICAR-JRF examinations. S. Abuthagir Iburahim, a student of FCRI has bagged the first rank in the All-India Entrance Examination (AIEEA-PG-2015). The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, conducts AIEEA for admission to masters degree programme in Agriculture and allied sciences every year for 25 percent seats in Agriculture and Fisheries universities.
Another student, M. Sri Hari, has won the fourth place. Besides, six others had been qualified to receive the ICAR Junior Fellowship of Rs.8,560 per month to pursue their Master of Fisheries Science degree programme, G. Sugumar, Dean (in-charge) of FCRI, said on Friday, while congratulating these students and said winning ICAR Junior fellowship in the AIEEA has always been the dream of students pursuing BFSc at the fisheries colleges in India. Students of fisheries colleges across the country had been endeavouring to excel in this examination to win fellowship, Dr. Sugumar said.
