The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court Friday extended parole granted to Arun Gawli till May 26. The extension was granted to facilitate Gawli attending to his ailing mother. The gangster-turned politician from Mumbai, lodged in Nagpur’s Central Jail, was granted parole earlier this month so that he could attend his son’s wedding.
He had subsequently applied with Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar for an extension, citing his mother’s ailment. Kumar had not ruled on the matter, so Gawli had approached the HC. The HC granted the extension till May 26.
