Two cops sent to police lines for assault on lawyer

Police identified the lawyer as one Narendra Kumar, who lives in a rented accommodation in the area. Kumar practices in Karkardooma court, police said.

According to police, the ground floor of the building in which Kumar lived belonged to a woman and has been rented out to one Vishesh (23).

Vishesh, police said, ran a chicken shop there and Kumar took exception to this. When he registered a protest, Vishesh, the woman and Vishesh’s friend Tarun allegedly got into a scuffle with Kumar and assaulted him.

Kumar, then filed a complaint of assault with police. The woman, on the other hand, filed a complaint of molestation against Kumar.

“With both parties began hurling accuses at one another at the police station. Kumar in a fit of rage made some remarks about the woman. The two policemen, Ravindra and Sheeshpal, who were standing next to Kumar lost their cool and assaulted Kumar,” a police officer said.  The two policemen were suspended and sent to police lines after lawyers held a protest at the police station.
