Wexford Youths game with Athlone Town abandoned after generator catches fire
A fire at Ferrycarraig Park tonight forced the abandonment of Wexford Youth's SSE Airtricity League First Division game with Athlone Town.
A statement released by the FAI tonight read: "Tonight’s SSE Airtricity League game between Wexford Youths and Athlone Town at Ferrycarrig Park was abandoned at half-time after a generator caught fire and caused the floodlights to fail.
"Wexford were leading 2-0 at the time. The match will be refixed in due course."
Referee has blown FT whistle before 2nd half starts in Wexford. Fire in generator means no floodlights for 3nd half. Youths 2-0 up v Athlone
