MC, PSPCL to discuss CLU need for new connections at industrial area
LUDHIANA: Officials of the municipal corporation (MC) and the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) are going to meet on Monday to clear the confusion over the requirement that new manufacturing units at Industrial Area C will need to submit a change of land use (CLU) certificate for a power connection from the state power body.
The decision has come following much confusion over the requirements for getting a new power connection at Industrial Area C.
While industrialists claim that Industrial Area C is a notified industrial area and they don't need to acquire a CLU for a new power connection, an MC official said the "notification might have been introduced earlier and then withdrawn". "The area has not been given any kind of sanction from the authorities which could identify it as an industrial zone like industrial areas A and B," municipal town planner Kamaljit Kaur said.
However, on the other hand, United Cycle Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) spokesperson Manjit Singh Khalsa said the area is a notified industrial zone and it makes no sense to ask for the CLU from the industrialists for a power connection. "Besides, I have the copy of the notification," he said. "Instead, new units should be given connections on the basis of an no-objection certificate from the MC," he said.
Also he said that the industrialists should be given the power supply connection getting the NOC from the industrialists rather than asking for the CLU certificate.
Contacted, PSPCL chief engineer NP Singh said they were in talks with the MC and would have meeting with its officials on Monday. "Whatever the confusion is, it will be solved in the meeting and a decision will be taken on the terms that need to be set for a new connection at Industrial Area C," he said.
