Central University of Karnataka entrance exam on June 27, 28

The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) will hold its entrance exam on June 27 and 28 for admission to various courses for the academic year 2015-16.


The examination will be held across 29 centres in the country for integrated courses, master’s and PhD programmes. Students will have to apply for the programmes online.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, H M Maheswaraiah, the vice-chancellor of CUK, said that the university would provide facilities to students. “We do not collect tuition fee and hostel room rent from girl students belonging to economically weaker sections of society and whose parents’ annual income is less than Rs six lakh. SC/ST students can avail themselves of free boarding. A monthly scholarship of Rs 8,000, in addition to annual contingency of Rs 10,000, will be given to all PhD scholars,” he said.

The entrance examination will be held in 18 centres in Karnataka, namely Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur, Ballari, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Yadgir, Koppal, Belagavi, Davangere, Hassan, Karwar and Udupi. Outside Karnataka, the entrance exam will be held at Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta, Panaji, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati. Prof Maheswaraiah said the CUK had already received 2,500 enquiries. It will also offer eight per cent reservation for students from six districts of the Hyderabad Karnataka region as provided under Article 371 (j) of the Constitution.

The collaborative programmes of the CUK are: Four-year BTech in Aerospace Engineering and Advanced Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering, both with Hindustan Aviation Academy, Bengaluru. The last date for applying online is June 17. For details, log onto www.cuk.ac.in
