Bank of Japan's Kuroda exudes confidence in economy

With an upbeat view of the economy, BOJ Gov. Kuroda looks more confident.

TOKYO -- The Japanese economy is making "steady improvement," Bank of Japan Gov. Haruhiko Kuroda said Friday.

At a press conference held after the BOJ's two-day policy meeting, Kuroda stressed that the central bank has pushed its economic assessment "a step forward," referring to a slight change in wording. In its latest economic assessment released earlier in the day, the BOJ said "Japan's economy has continued to recover moderately," dropping the word "trend" that last appeared in the March statement.
