Video: Unconvincing dive forces Turkish club to deny allowing Galatasaray to win crucial game
While the Premier League winds down to its conclusion - with only Cesc Fabregas kicking a ball at Chris Brunt's head for amusement - the Turkish title race is still far from decided, and things are getting rather tense.
On a weekend where challengers Besiktas lost 1-0 and Fenerbahce needed a 90th-minute winner from former Newcastle midfielder Emre Belozoglu to keep their hopes alive, Galatasaray eased past mid-table Genclerbirligi with a goal from Wesley Sneijder.
However, Genclerbirligi goalkeeper Ferhat Kaplan's not-quite-so-despairing dive for Sneijder's winner has raised a few eyebrows...
..as did his defence's earlier maverick attempt at an offside trap:
Genclerbirligi chairman Ilhan Cavcav - who, earlier this season, called for a nationwide ban on footballers with beards - had already claimed he wanted Galatasaray to be champions, which he insisted to Haberturk TV was nothing sinister:
"My uncle played for Galatasaray. I did my military service in Istanbul and I always go to Galatasaray's matches. Is it a crime?."
With two games to go in the Süper Lig, Galatasaray have a three-point lead, although Fenerbahce's superior goal difference could come into play.
Besiktas striker Demba Ba wasn't happy with the weekend's events.
Some people in this world must really be ashamed
