Ethiopia: Sebeta/ Addis Ababa-Adama-Mieso Railway Project Due for Completion

The Sebeta/ Addis Ababa-Adama-Mieso railway which is part of Ethiopia’s key railway project of Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway is due for completion, according to The Daily Monitor.

The railway is being built by the China Railway Group (CREC).

Senior government officials of Ethiopia, diplomats, Chinese and local staff of CREC and residents of Adama have celebrated the land mark chapter of the project on Monday, May 18, 2015 in Adama Town, Ethiopia.

The Sebeta/ Addis Ababa-Adama-Mieso railway project covers a total length of 329.145 kilometer. The Addis Ababa-Adama section is a double track with 115 kilometer length where as Adama-Mieso is a single track covering 214.145 kilometer.

The railway links Addis Ababa with Adama, Dire Dawa and Djibouti port and is the main transporting corridor for imports and exports of Ethiopia and the inland of East Africa.
