BJD took Ganjam for a ride: Saffron party
BERHAMPUR: BJP leaders on Wednesday came down heavily on ruling BJD, alleging that it has neglected Ganjam district and failed to fulfill the aspirations of people.
As chief minister Naveen Patnaik completed one year in his fourth term in power, BJP leaders, at a news conference here, said the government has not solved a single problem in the district, even though four cabinet ministers, including chief minister, are representing Ganjam.

The three ministers are women and child development minister Usha Devi, forest and environment minister Bikram Keshari Arukh and higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy.
While drinking water problem in Berhampur remains unsolved, farmers are deprived of seed, fertilizer and irrigation facilities, said senior BJP leader Rama Chandra Panda.
Thousands of persons from the district migrated to other states in search of work as the government failed to provide them employment, he alleged.
The former deputy speaker said law and order situation in the state has deteriorated with incidents like murder, rape and dacoity being reported daily.
"During the election, the chief minister had assured the people to take up development works if his party was voted to power. People of the district should ask the CM what he was done for the district in last one year," Panda said.

While the government has spent Rs 135 crore to conduct job melas in different districts, only a few unemployed youths got employment, alleged former minister Surama Padhy.
BJP leader Sameer Mohanty said his party would celebrate one-year rule of Narendra Modi government in different parts of the state, including Berhampur, on May 26.
