Gandhian K. Srinivasan passes away

K. Srinivasan, retired professor of physics, Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru, and an eminent Gandhian and social activist, passed away in Bengaluru on May 18 after brief illness. He was 94. Srinivasan had taken part in the freedom movement and was a follower of M.N. Roy. Later, he became a staunch Gandhian. He was closely associated with the activities of the Gandhi Bhavan here and also took part in the JP Movement during 1974–75. He believed in secularism and caste-less society. Srinivasan was instrumental in setting up the Kukkarahalli government school and served as the president of Peoples Union of Civil Liberties. He was associated with the Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishad.

Mysore University and Gandhi Study Centre has convened a meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan in Manasagangothri here to pay tribute to Srinivasan and recall his contributions.
