As many as 1,656 nomination papers have been received until May 20 in Yadgir district.
A release by the district administration said that 422 nominations were from Scheduled Caste candidates, followed by 228 from Scheduled Tribe candidates, 126 from backward class A category candidates, 21 from backward class B category candidates and 859 from general category candidates.
Last date
The last date for filing nomination papers is on May 22. The scrutiny of the papers filed will be done on May 23 and the return of nominations will be conducted on May 25.
Elections for 121 gram panchayats in the district will be held on June 2.
