eputy commissioner A.M. Kunjappa has instructed the Superintendent of Police to ensure adequate police force for the forthcoming gram panchayat polls. The action follows the identification of 83 booths as hyper-sensitive and 128 as sensitive ones in the district.
Presiding over a gram panchayat election meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Kunjappa has said that out of the 839 polling booths being set up for the gram panchayat polls, 628 had been identified as normal. In Gundlupet, 20 booths hved been named as hyper-sensitive and 30 as sensitive, followed by 28 hyper-sensitive and 45 sensitive in Kollegal, and seven hyper-sensitive and 11 sensitive ones in Yelandur taluk. He urged the police officials to provide adequate security for transporting election materials to polling stations and voting centres, after the voting process.
He instructed the nodal officers to take stringent action against violation of model code of conduct. Excise officials have been directed to initiate immediate action against transportation of liquor at inter-State borders and check-posts. Tahasildars were taking care of works related to mustering and de-mustering.
