Tirunelveli registers marginal increase in pass percentage

Produces 34 State toppers, including two first rank holders

While registering a pass percentage of 94.23 from last year’s 91.98 per cent, the district has produced 34 State toppers including 2 first rankers, 4 second rankers and 28 third rankers in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination.

Of the 34 State toppers, 27 are girls as only 7 of them are boys.

State first rank (499 out of 500): S. Aarthy of Rose Mary Matriculation Higher Secondary School (Main), Palayamkottai and M. Muthuveni of St. Joseph’s HSS, NGO ‘A’ Colony.

Second rank (498): P. Jayashree, St. Ignatius Convent HSS, Palayamkottai, M. Maheshwari, Sri Vaiyapuri Vidhya MHSS, Sankarankovil, P. Madumathi, Hilton MHSS, Old Courtallam and A.E. Senthil Kumar, Spectrum MHSS, Ilaththur.

Third rank (497): S. Anita Rama and S. Felcita Annie Ponmalar, Sarah Tucker Girls’ Higher Secondary School, J. Annie Gethsiyal, Celine, L. Daphney Sharon and Mohamed Riyaz, Rose Mary MHSS, G.V. Of the 458 high and higher secondary schools in the district, 186 schools have achieved cent per cent result this year.

Number of students who appeared for the SSLC exam were 48,037, and 45,265 passed taking the pass percentage to 94.23.

In Cheranmahadevi educational district, 15,935 appeared and 15,136 passed. The pass percentage was 94.98. In Tenkasi educational district 15,473 appeared of which 14,567 passed. The pass percentage stood at 94.14.

In Tirunelveli educational district while 16,629 wrote the exam 15,562 passed taking the pass percentage to 93.58.
