Nine students in the district have secured State second ranks by scoring 498 marks while 41 students have secured State third ranks by scoring 497 marks, including two students from government schools, in the SSLC examination for which results were published here on Thursday.
K. Adhiyamaan, B. Praveena and B. Shobikashree, all three from Green Park Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Bodhupatty, K. Dhivya Srinithi, N. Geetha and S. Manasa, all from Kurinji Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kavettipatti, R. Kishore of Vetri Vikaas Boys Higher Secondary School, Keeranoor Valasu, M. Paramasivabharathi of SKV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, M. Kandampalayam and S. Thilakraj of Kongunadu Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Nallipalayam scored 498 marks and stood State second rank.
Though most of the second rank holders said that they were expecting the rank, all are not keen on pursuing career in medicine. While Shobikashree wants to be a Chartered Accountant, Thilagaraj wanted to be a scientist while Manasa wants to be in civil service.
For the first time, two students from the government schools in the district have scored 497 marks and bagged third rank in the State. R. Dinesh Raja of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tiruchengode and S. Tamilarasu of Government Higher Secondary School, Pachal have achieved the laurels despite coming from downtrodden families. The other 39 students who scored 497 marks and stood third in the rank are from various schools in the district. All were felicitated by the Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy at a function held at collectorate.
