Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy has promised to sanction required funds for restoration of Ooda Cheruvu located at Kavalampet in Sangareddy mandal of Medak district.

Resting place

Addressing a gathering after formally launching the tank restoration works at Kavalampet, which was adopted by TUWJ, Medak unit, on Thursday, Ms Padma said that the tank should be developed as a resting place as the bund of the tank is adjacent to Mumbai Highway and those driving on this road can take rest for a while.

She said that the tank spread over 73 acres besides irrigating 72 acres also supplies water to another five tanks once filled.

Plea for quality works

While appreciating journalists for adopting the tank, she said that Kisan tank located at Kandi adopted by the police and Ooda Cheruvu should compete with each other in ensuring quality of works. Informing that the government contemplated to restore about 50,000 tanks across Telangana by investing about Rs. 20,000 in the next five years, she said that in the current year about 20 per cent of the tank works were already taken up.

“There will be no dearth of funds and we are ready to sanction whatever amount is required. I am also promising sanctioning of 33/11 KV substation for Kavalampet,” she said. Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana suggested the journalists to have proper supervision in restoration of tank works. Programme was presided over by TUWJ district president V. Vishnuvardhan Reddy. MLA Chinta Prabhakar, MP K. Prabhakar Reddy, Collector Rahul Bojja, SE Surender and others participated in the programme.
