NOIDA: Police on Thursday claimed to have rescued wheat merchant Rajender Singh, 45, from abductors, and managed to arrest three of the seven kidnappers. They also claimed to have recovered Rs 2 lakh, two cars, a mobile phone and weapons from their possession.
The businessman had been abducted from Bulandshahr on May 20. The abductors subsequently demanded a ransom of Rs 6 lakh, police said.
Police said the three arrested have been identified as Shivam, Raju Tomar and Rahul Singh. Four others in the gang managed to dodge the cops. The abductors are in their early 20s.
On May 20, Singh had left for Bulandshahr in his car. En route, near Pari Chowk, the abductors overtook his car and held him at gunpoint.
“The criminals searched his car for cash. When they did not find any, they called his wife for ransom,” a senior police officer said.
Late on Wednesday night, Rajender’s wife went to Pari Chowk to hand over Rs 2 lakh as part of the ransom she had been able to collect till then. Police laid an ambush and arrested three of the accused when they arrived to collect the money, and rescued Singh.
