Naxalites roping in tech-savvy recruits?

Left Wing Extremists (LWE) in India are reportedly trying to recruit/indoctrinate techies

BENGALURU: In a dramatic shift in their strategy the proscribed Left Wing Extremists (LWE) in India are reportedly trying to recruit/indoctrinate techies to build their cyber network and increase their outreach to the masses through social media platforms.

A confidential dossier on the banned Communist Party of India (Maoists) reportedly states that after decades of indulging in violent armed insurgency against the state, the Red Brigade is now planning to spread their agenda and ideology online through the new tech savvy ‘recruits’. Though Karnataka is not considered as Naxal-affected state, the banned movement is allegedly using the regional turf for their zonal and cyber expansion.

The dossier has revealed shocking details of the new policy shift of the CPI (Maoists); to reportedly go ‘soft’ on the local police for greater benefit of turning them into source informants for anti-naxal commando forces/squads such as the ‘Greyhounds’ of Andhra Pradesh, ‘Garuda’ of Karnataka, ‘Thunderbolt’ of Kerala, ‘Q’ Branch of Tamil Nadu, ‘Commando Battalion for Resolute Action’ (CoBRA) of Chhattisgarh, ‘Special Operation Group’ (SOG) of Odisha and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the Naxal affected states.

“If a policeman is injured in the operation take him to the nearest hospital,” is the new diktat for the Naxal cadres by their leaders. The confidential document has also warned the government of the move of the Maoists to build a ‘Golden Corridor’ to connect areas of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra comprising strategically important areas such as Gadchiroli, Gondia and Balaghat in Maharasthra and Madhya Pradesh.
