In order to keep the entertainment quotient on a high, soap makers leave no stone unturned to spice up their projects. And what better way to do this than introduce new characters in the shows who can eventually go on to play significant roles in the lives of the protagonists in the process bringing in some much needed dramatic moments in the existing storylines of the ongoing shows.

Arjun Bijlani

He’s won hearts of audiences in Left Right Left and Miley Jab Hum Tum. Having played the proverbial good-boy for a long time, in 'Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi' Arjun’s struck a connect with his audience as the flirty and flamboyant lawyer Shikhar Mehra who has grey shades to his character and seems like a flesh and blood person and not a cardboard cutout. His entry has come like a fresh breath of air and spiced up the heroine’s predicable life considerably.
Gaurav Chopraa

Right from 'Left Right Left' to 'Uttaran', Gaurav’s amassed a huge fan base. So when an actor with such powerful presence was brought in 'Sadda Haq My Life My Choice', as the new mentor Abhay Singh Ranawat — it is a supershot TRP-tripping formula and a win-win situation for the showmakers! As the alcoholic mentor with a devil may care attitude, Gaurav’s interesting screen chemistry with Param Singh (who essays the role of Randhir) creates lots of dramatic moments in the show.

Mayank Gandhi

This dashing reality TV star who was seen in 'Desh Ki Beti Nandini' has entered 'Million Dollar Girl' as an NRI businessman Zubair. Mayank who is popular with youngsters, thanks to his winning stint in 'Splitsvilla Season 7'. Avanti (Sana Sheikh), the protagonist is already in awe of this dynamic young entrepreneur and is expected to get attracted to him later on. So audiences may look forward to some more dramatic twists and turns in the story from the unpredictable Zubair who will add spice to the show.
Amit Tandon

Ever since his stint in Indian Idol, followed by reality shows and soaps, Amit entered 'Yeh Hai Mohabatein' as Subbu, Ishita’s (Divyanka Tripathi) ex-fiancé. He has been shown as a positive character so far, who’s been instrumental in re-uniting Ishita and her adopted daughter Ruhi. Rumour has it, that the mask of the good guy will slip in the forthcoming episodes as Subbu will become a full-fledged baddie.

Karan Jotwani

Newbie actor Karan, last seen in 'Laut Aao Trisha' entered 'Kaisi Yeh Yaarian' as Aryaman. His character has grey shades and will become a rival of the male protagonist Manik (Parth Samthaan). At a time when the relationship status of Manik and Nandini (Niti Taylor) is more than complicated, Karan’s entry has added spark. The audiences are in for surprises as the coming episodes are going to be a lot more fun.
Kushal Punjabi

Kushal, who’s done his share of reality shows and episodics has entered 'Zindagi Wins' as the charming Dr Veer, who is meant to act as a catalyst in the relationship of Dr Alia (Abigail Jain) and Dr Ishaan (Kiran Srinivas). Kushal has not done a serious role like this before in a fiction show and insists that’s what “made” him take up the show.
Varun Kapoor

The Amdavadi actor, who was last seen as Danny in 'Saraswatichandra', makes a comeback in the daily soap 'Swaragini' as a mentally challenged man — Sanskaar. Varun has taken up a very challenging role and his entry might help the show in terms of raking TRPs. Audience will get to see a love triangle very soon with Varun’s entry in the show.
Mishkat Verma

In his debut show ('Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya'), the actor became the popular chocolate boy of TV. Now, Mishkat’s added more spark in 'Nisha Aur Uske Cousins' as Kabir — who enters Nisha’s (Aneri Vajani) life like a hurricane and ends up getting married ‘accidentally’ to her (in true TV soap style). Also, his electric dance moves and mushy scenes have ensured that he gets ample screen time!
Rajeshwari Sachdev Badola

Her strong performances in films have always made an impact on the audience and even got her a well deserved National Award. After a break from TV, she’s returned as 'Mangla Devi', who’s a protective guardian to the young protagonist, Nimboli (Gracy Goswami), in 'Balika Vadhu'. Rajeshwari might not have too much screen time or dramatic dialogues, but her sheer presence and subtle role play has found a connect with the audience.
