The three-member panel headed by Chief Justice of India (retd.) R.M. Lodha had a busy day here on Thursday.
The committee was formed to investigate the illegal betting scandal in the IPL, fix the quantum of punishment for the erring owners, officials and franchises, and carry out administrative reforms in the BCCI.
The Lodha panel is also probing the audit, accounts and financial wings of the Board.
Apart from speaking to Gurunath Meiyappan — under the scanner for illegal betting — the Lodha committee is interacting with some leading journalists in the city.
The panel had recently sent a questionnaire containing more than 80 queries under seven sub-heads to the office-bearers of the BCCI. These include questions on ‘conflict of interest’ and transparency.
Justice Lodha told The Hindu some time back, “One of the tasks given to us is to ensure there is transparency and accountability in the game. We know there is huge public expectation resting on us. We will ensure the game is played in its best spirit. We will do our best. We will complete all our assigned tasks within the six months given to us,” he had added.
Former Supreme Court judges Ashok Bhan and R.V. Raveendran are the other members of the panel.
The committee was formed in January this year.
