King Harald V visits Iceland

King Harald V of Norway paid Iceland a short visit yesterday on his way to the United States. He was officially received by the President of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson.

Grímsson accompanied His Majesty to the ‘Viking World’ museum in Reykjanes to see the spectacular Íslendingur Viking ship on display there.

Gunn­ar Mar­el Eggerts­son, who built the ship and famously sailed it over the Atlantic in 2000, spoke to King Harald about the construction of the replica ship and the journey from Iceland to Greenland, Canada and America.
