The Mach2 is Karbonn's successor to the MachOne phone launched in Feburary 2015.While the MachOne was a budget offering, the Mach2 is a midrange device with focus on style.

Unlike other brands that are trying to cash in on the budget phablet trend, Karbonn has focused on making the Mach2 slim (6.3mm), lightweight (112 grams) and easy to carry . The design of the phone is a fusion of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 -rounded edges, rounded volume buttons, machine drilled speaker holes and unibody design. Add Gorilla Glass front and rear with a glossy, fingerprint-friendly finish and you have a smartphone that looks premium for its price.

Being a unibody design, the phone has slots on the side for two SIMs and microSD card. However, these are not marked so its difficult to identify which is slot 1, slot 2 and even which one is the microSD slot.

It has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In our usage it impressed us with rich colors, good viewing angles and excellent sunlight legibility . The user interface works well with smooth animations and large bright icons. However, what we did not like much was the bloatware that came pre loaded on the phone.Performance was good for most uses but the 1GB RAM became a limiting factor when it came to gaming performance. We saw random frame drops in Shadowgun and Dead trigger 2.Another issue with the phone is the 1,900mAh battery. It manages to last from morning to evening, but with heavy usage, will need charging twice a day.

It comes with front and rear 8MP cameras but both of them suffer from the same issues.Images taken in daylight are good but they lack details while indoors there's lots of visible noise. That being said, the images are good enough for sharing on social media.

Karbonn Titanium Mach2 is an interesting departure from the earlier offerings by the brand. While we were impressed by its design and looks, the sub-par camera and battery performance is a letdown. For a lower price, you can check out the Asus Zenfone 5.
