The spy photographers have finally managed to lift the lid on one of bike enthusiasts' worst kept secrets. By tracking down probably the first prototype of Yamaha's hotly-anticipated R25 at a dealer showroom in India, the spy shots obtained from Motorids are fuelling a fresh round of speculation in the auto world, with some predicting that the model is poised for an India launch.

If earlier reports hinted at a possible launch of Yamaha R25 and R3 in the Indian market, it is for the first time we are getting a semblance of confirmation with the spy shots of the possible Yamaha R25 test mule at a dealer showroom in India.

The model in question was spotted in Red and was seen fitted with MRF tyres.

The stylish bike gets power from a 250cc liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 36bhp, 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 22.1Nm at 10,000rpm. In terms of dimensions, Yamaha R25 measures 2,090mm in length, 720mm in width, 1,135mm in height and has a seat height of 780mm. Built on a tubular diamond chassis, the latest in the R-series line-up comes with telescopic suspension at the front and monocross suspension at the rear.

If R25 makes it to the Indian market, it is likely to be priced in the range of ₹2.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh. When launched, Yamaha R25 will be competing against the likes of Hyosung GT250R, Kawasaki Ninja 250 Mono and Honda CBR250R.
