INDORE: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with Madhya Pradesh government would organize ‘Krishi Vikas 2015’ exhibition from May 25. The exhibition will be organized along with ‘Krishi Mahotsav’, an initiative of state government to train and educate farmers on latest techniques and technology to boost farm produce.
Sanjay Kirloskar, chairman, CII Western Region said, “Agriculture sector occupies nearly 60% of India's geographical area and employs more than half of its population.
Its share in gross domestic product (GDP) which has been shrinking over years now stands at 13.9%, which is a matter of concern.”
“Drastic change in climatic patterns and over-dependence of sector on monsoon has called for timely adoption of modern and scientific farming techniques to enhance productivity. We would be addressing issues faced by sector and guide farmers on path to progress and prosperity. Madhya Pradesh, which recently clocked a 25% growth in agriculture output is inspiring role model for other states,” he added.
