Following the minor facelift last year, Volkswagen has now given its popular c-segment sedan another update. Find out what's new

New 2015 Volkswagen Vento

1.) Design:

Last year, the Vento got a new powerplant but the changes on the cosmetic front were minimal. This time round, Volkswagen has clearly focused its energies on the design. The new Volkswagen Vento now gets deeper creases into the bonnet that leads into a bolder three-slat chrome grille in sync with the company’s design language. The air dam too is now a lot larger and is complimented by a chrome strip. The fog lamps have been redesigned as well. In profile, the 2015 Vento sports a new set of alloy wheels, chrome lining for the door handles and new ORVMs. At the back the refreshed Vento’s bumper has been remoulded and safety reflectors have been added to it, and the exhaust tip too gets a chrome finish. The taillights now get revised internals. And then to add to the long list of changes, the boot also gets a touch of chrome.

2.) Interiors:

Volkswagen has also upgraded the cabin of the 2015 Volkswagen Vento facelift. Now the top-end Highline model now gets Walnut desert beige interiors while the lower Comfortline and Trendline trims get Cloud Titanschwarz. Aside from the overall look of the dashboard, the new Vento now also gets a dead pedal and a cooled glove box. Unlike the outgoing models, this new one has an internal boot release button as well.

3.) Features:

With competition offering better equipment list, Volkswagen India has also added a few new features to make the Vento facelift a strong contender in the segment. Needless to say it will come with integrated infotainment system that allows Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity, steering mounted controls, ABS, Airbags and more. The Vento has always been an able tourer but the lack of cruise control was always felt. Volkswagen has now addressed that need in this new iteration. To add to the list of features, it also gets cornering lights and LED turn indicators on the ORVMs.

4.) Efficiency:

In this new Avatar as well, the Vento will continue to be offered with a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. But the German car maker claims that the engine has now been re-tuned to return a hike in fuel efficiency of 7.5 per cent. The new Vento is expected to return around 16kmpl for the petrol trim while the diesel should go nearly 22kmpl in a litre of fuel.

Needless to say, all of the aforementioned changes will come at price. Currently the Vento has been priced starting at Rs 7.7 lakh for the base variant right up to Rs 11.5 lakh for the top-end diesel automatic with the DSG gearbox. We expect the 2015 Volkswagen Vento to start slightly higher at around Rs 8 lakh for the Trendline Petrol, while the Highline Diesel AT is expected to be priced at around Rs 12 lakh.
