Take subway, say police

May 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

In order to ease traffic situation at ITO, the Delhi Traffic Police is launching a scheme to popularise the use of subway for crossing the road at ITO intersection.

The Delhi Police is going to launch a ‘Lucky Draw’ for all commuters who use the subways and the names of the winners will be displayed on Delhi Traffic Police’s Facebook page and they will be given prizes.

“It has been observed that pedestrians are not using the subway on both the sides of Indraprastha Marg at the ITO junction constructed by the DMRC, although the escalators installed at these locations are now functional. This creates a problem for the traffic and slows down vehicles especially from Tilak Bridge and Dalmiya Chowk,” said Sepcial CP Traffic Muktesh Chander. The scheme would be inaugurated on May 21 at ITO DMRC subway.
