Girls bag top two ranks in MBBS entrance exam

P. Hiba is first and Marium Raphi is second

Girl students bagged the top two ranks in this year’s entrance examinations for the MBBS course, the rank list of which was published here on Wednesday. As many as 85,829 candidates figure on the rank list.

The first rank went to P. Hiba of Malappuram who scored 954.7826. The second rank went to Marium Raphi from Aluva; her score was 944.3478. The third rank went to Ajeesh Sabu from Kollam, who also scored 944.3478.

The first rank in the Scheduled Caste (SC) category went to K. Nirmal Krishnan from Malappuram, while Lakshmi Parvathy from Kottayam stood first among the Scheduled Tribe candidates. The second rank in the category went to Aswathy George Adimali. The result of the second rank-holder in the SC category has been withheld.

The medical rank list and the score sheet for the engineering entrance examination were released here by Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb.

The engineering rank list will be published in the second week of June after normalising the Plus Two and the engineering entrance examination scores of candidates. Marks from 34 examination boards from within and outside the country will be collected for this, Mr. Rabb said.

While 438 candidates who studied in the Higher Secondary Education-Kerala stream figured in the top 1,000 MBBS ranks, 524 students from the AISSCE stream made it to the top 1,000. While there are 62,818 students from the HSE-Kerala stream on the rank list, there are 19,758 from the AISSCE stream on the rank list. There are 36 students from the ICSE stream in the top 1,000, and 1,066 on the rank list.

Based on the permanent residence of the candidates, there are 154 candidates from Malappuram in the top 1,000 ranks. There are 150 candidates from Thiruvananthapuram, and 121 from Kozhikode.

Of the top 100 ranks, 57 have gone to boys. Among the top 100 candidates, it was the second attempt for 73 candidates, and the third attempt for four candidates.

Allotments

To a question on allotments, Mr. Rabb said discussions would be held with the managements of private self-financing colleges on the number of allotments that a student, getting admission to the management seats, would be eligible to participate in.
