: The political climate in the state is in favour of one more term for the UDF, KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has said.

Addressing Congress leaders at the DCC office here on Wednesday, he said no other government has done so much development projects and benefits for the people in the State before.

Unfortunately, the achievements of the UDF government have not been reached the people properly, he added.

“UDF government’s liquor policy has created long-reaching benefits for society. People with vested interests allege that the length of the queue in front of the outlets of beverages corporation has increased. It’s quite natural to have a long queue in front of the liquor outlets when 730 bars are closed. The statistics with home department show decline in number of crimes in the state. Peaceful situation prevails in many houses,” he said.

The UDF government was always willing to order vigilance investigation whenever corruption charges were raised against its ministers. But the party will not make any one a scapegoat if people with vested interest raised baseless allegations,” he added.

He called up on the leaders and workers to work with added vigour for the coming local body elections.

The KPCC president appreciated Mayor Rajan Pallan and former Mayor I.P. Paul for the development works done by the Thrissur Corporation.

The meeting discussed about the fish workers conference to be held at Chavakkad beach and said that 100 workers from each mandalam would attend the meet.

The irregularities in the appointments in the co-operative societies have negatively affected party image. “We are getting many complaints about the appointments,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become an NRI Prime Minister, Mr. Sudheeran said.

“He does not have time to consider the issues in the country. Mr. Modi is making statements, which cause insult to the country and people. He should apologise for his controversial remarks,” said.

DCC President O. Abdu Rahiman Kutty presided over.
