Thiruvananthapuram: Girls bagged six out of the first 10 ranks in the medical entrance examinations, while three students from Malappuram figured in the first ten ranks.
As many as 85,829 students have made it to the medical rank list announced by Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb here on Wednesday.
Malappuram district also accounted for 154 ranks among the first 1000. This was a deviation from last year when a majority of the the top ten rank holders and the first two rank holders were boys. However, out of the first 100 ranks, 57 are for boys and 43 for girls.
Hiba P with a score of 954.7826 of Malappuram secured first rank while Marium Raphi with a score of 944.3478 from Ernakulam secured second position.
The other top ten rank holders are as follows: Ajeesh Sabu of Kollam (third rank), Varna Mathew of Thrissur (fourth rank), Aishwarya Raveendran of Malappuram (fifth rank), Anna James of Iddukki (sixth rank), Hari Balachandran (seventh rank), Kalyani Krishnan (eighth rank), Joel Alex Sherry (ninth rank), Melvin Shaji of Malappuram (tenth rank).
Nirmal Krishnan K of Malappuram bagged first place in SC, while Lakshmi Parvathy of Kottayam and Aswathy George of Idukki the first and second rank in the ST category respectively.
The results of 853 candidates under the Engineering Stream and the results of 746 candidates under the Medical Stream have been withheld for various reasons.
As many as 75,258 students qualified for engineering admission and 85,829 students for medical admission.
Apart from that, a separate rank list has been published for Ayurveda Courses based on the Medical Rank list.
The Category and Community wise list based on the rank lists will also be published in due course.
Complaints regarding the Category List should reach the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations within five days after the publication of the Category list.
Candidates will be admitted to the courses only if the academic eligibility conditions as prescribed in the Prospectus are fulfilled at the time of admission. This will be verified at the time of admission by the college authorities.
