: Sanakhemundi BJD MLA Nandini Devi has been summoned by the Cuttack SDJM court here to appear in person in connection with a fraudulent land deal in which she is alleged to have committed ‘fraud on court’ by withholding relevant vital documents from the court to gain advantage.
Facing charges under sections 199 (giving false statement as evidence), 200 (Using as true such declaration knowing it to be false), 209 (dishonestly making false claim in court) and 499 (defamation) of the IPC, the ruling party law maker has been asked to appear in court on June 29, 2015.
Rajnath Roy, a builder in the city, has alleged that Nandini Devi’s husband Late Kishore Chandra Singhdeo had sold a property in the city to Roy’s farm M/s Swastik Builders in April 2014 for a consideration amount of Rs 54 lakh. After receiving an advance amount of Rs 4.30 lakh, Kishore died on May 28, 2010 following which Nandini Devi received the balance amount from the builders in separate cheques.
In the meantime, the builder has developed the plot into a residential flat after taking bank loans and advances from the prospective flat owners.
But, without disclosing the sale deed agreement and concealing the fact that she had received the balance amount from the builders, Nandini Devi moved a local civil court against the builders seeking a 28 per cent share from the built-up area as per an old agreement made between the builder and her late husband.
Subsequently, on the basis of a complaint case (CC), the builder was arrested and jailed for five days in May 2013. However, after getting bail and obtaining certain other documents through the RTI, Mr. Roy has moved the SDJM court alleging Nandini Devi of giving false statements in court as evidence and dishonestly made false claims against him affecting his social prestige.
